Ethereum Name Service
The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a distributed, open, and extensible naming system based on the Ethereum blockchain. So instead of using your long wallet addresses, you can use your short name to receive any cryptocurrency, token, or NFT.
The native name suffix for ENS is .ETH, which has the full security benefits of being blockchain-native.
ENS conducts an airdrop to their early adopters. ENS airdrops a total of 25 million $ENS. The ENS token will govern key components of the ENS protocol.
Comment: We expect that airdrops, where you have to use a protocol, will be a common way to release a new token, if you want that we will share information upfront, where we expect that maybe an airdrop can come, please leave us a comment.
25.000.000 ENSAllocated Token
Step by step guide
This airdrop required that you had an ENS domain, before the Snapshot date, which was one the 31. October 2021.
You can claim your ENS token here
The distribution is based on the total time of an address's past registration and future registration as of October 31st, 2021.
The total time of future registrations is capped at 8 years. Importantly, the retroactive airdrop is per account, not per name. This means that each address is counted for a given day based on whether it owns at least one .ETH name on that day.
If you have set your ENS name as primary (formerly known as Reverse Record), you will get a 2x multiplier.
The airdrop formula is roughly:
0.27 * (# days the account owned at least one ENS name)
+ 0.067 * (# days until the expiration of the last name on the account)
The total is then multiplied by 2 if the account also has a Primary ENS Name set.
